Dr Julie Breer was born in New England and from a very young age knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Vermont and continued her education studying for a year in the South of France at the University of Nice. It was volunteering at the California Marine Mammal Rescue that led her directly to veterinary school. She obtained her DVM from University of California Davis in 1994. Before joining the Smith Veterinary Hospital team, Julie practiced in Vallejo, California. Dr. Breer has special interest in feline medicine, internal medicine, and exotic animal medicine and surgery. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, the New Mexico Veterinary Medical Association, the Association for Avian Veterinarians, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and is USDA accredited in the state of New Mexico. When not at the hospital Julie enjoys hiking, skiing, photography, and watching the antics of local wildlife. She shares her home with the cutest Pomeranian ever, Miss Leah, two cats Kitty Witty, and Peeps, Olive the Lovebird, and Ellow the Cockatiel.
